IAKI Redefines the Hospitality Story on the Romanian Coast
IAKI Conference & Spa Hotel is the emblematic landmark of the Mamaia resort. Renowned for the complexity of its offers, its traditions rooted in an exclusive lifestyle, its ineffable sense of comfort, and a reputation built over time with honesty and respect for its guests, IAKI continues to stand out—especially in an era where expectations constantly strive toward excellence. The hotel enters the new season with a series of strategic upgrades and new facilities designed to enhance the tourist experience on the Romanian seaside.
The Journey of a Hotel on the Black Sea Coast
Almost seven decades ago, in 1956, as part of a broad coastal development program, Hotel Yalta was established. Though it followed the strict requirements of the newly established regime, it brought surprising architectural elements for the time—arches, symmetry, generous spaces, and columns reminiscent more of a reimagined Art Deco style from an architect whose creativity had not yet been subdued by politics. Unfortunately, the architect's name has been lost to time. Eight years later, the hotel was renamed "București" and became a symbol of modernity in Romanian tourism.
In 1999, Gheorghe Hagi, a living legend of international football, purchased the hotel as part of a long-term investment. In 2001, the hotel was reborn under the name IAKI.
Since then, the hotel has become a benchmark in Romania—known for its unique atmosphere that leaves a lasting impression on guests and for its complex services and business opportunities.
Today, IAKI is a brand that, much like its owner, stands for long-term performance, adaptability, and an unforgettable emotional experience.
What Does the Perfect Holiday Look Like?
IAKI Conference & Spa Hotel boasts a range of outdoor spaces, including a modern terrace with pergolas, cozy seating areas, architectural lighting, and an integrated stage—ideal for open-air events.
The outdoor swimming pools, renovated in 2024, are equipped with efficient water filtration and heating systems, featuring separate zones for adults and children. They’re complemented by showers and a pool bar, often the heart of summer relaxation.
Just steps from the hotel, the private beach offers an exclusive retreat in the heart of Mamaia. Comfortable loungers and a peaceful ambiance are enhanced by massage services from Iaki Spa and the IAKI Beach Bar, where guests can enjoy stunning sea views along with refined cocktails or refreshing beverages.
Luxury Hotel Modernization
2025 marks a year of transformation for IAKI. A series of aesthetic and technical upgrades have brought the hotel's historic wing into the modern age. Hosting premium rooms and suites on floors 1, 2, and 3, this wing has undergone complete renovations: replacement of hallway and room carpets, new interior and exterior doors, and upgraded window joinery using modern aluminum systems. These now provide superior soundproofing and optimal thermal comfort through integrated UV-protected triple glazing, reducing solar radiation and maintaining a stable indoor temperature. Room access systems and ventilation have also been modernized to meet high standards of comfort and security. The renovation, completed in just three months, exceeded €2 million in investment.
With a total capacity of 122 rooms and suites (244 guests), IAKI Conference & Spa Hotel offers a wide range of accommodation options, from Executive Double Rooms to Superior Suites.
Top-Tier Gastronomy in Three Distinct Restaurants
IAKI Conference & Spa Hotel features three elegant restaurants, each offering diverse culinary experiences tailored for à la carte dining or private events.
Ballroom Restaurant seats up to 200 guests, offering international cuisine and à la carte service, with direct access to the outdoor terrace where guests can enjoy the sea breeze.
Casino Restaurant is an upscale venue adorned with chandeliers and designed for an elite atmosphere. With 150 seats, it’s dedicated to private events (weddings, baptisms, anniversaries) and corporate parties, where menus are customized and service is of the highest quality.
Coriolis Restaurant, with 120 seats, transports you to a different era. Renovated in a New Art Deco style, it evokes a time of refined luxury when everything—what we wore and how things looked—was in visual harmony. It’s the perfect spot for a magical breakfast, a flawless lunch, or an unforgettable dinner.
The Conference Center – Excellence in the MICE Segment
IAKI’s Conference Center meets the highest demands of the business sector. Fully modernized, this elegant and versatile venue can host events of up to 400 participants.
The main hall can be divided using modular walls into three distinct areas with capacities of 50, 100, and 150 seats. The recent addition of two private meeting rooms—London and Prague—further expands options for business events of varying sizes.
The entire center is equipped with high-performance audio systems (amplifiers, fixed and wireless microphones), electronic display tools (tablets, LCD screens, projectors, projection screens), and premium carpeting that ensures both perfect acoustics and impeccable aesthetics for post-event communication.
IAKI Spa – A Wellness Tourism Pioneer on the Romanian Seaside
Opened in 2002 as the first spa center on the Romanian coast, IAKI Spa underwent a major renovation in 2012 funded by European grants, with continual updates—the most recent in 2024. Today, spanning 1,600 sqm, it is a cornerstone of wellness tourism on the Black Sea.
The wet area offers a variety of relaxing experiences: a heated pool (30°C), dry and steam saunas, a cervical shower, and a jacuzzi. For fitness enthusiasts, IAKI Gym provides top-of-the-line Technogym equipment, with guidance from professional trainers and physiotherapists.
Spa Senses enhances the wellness offer with state-of-the-art treatments in an intimate atmosphere enriched with oriental oils, ambient lighting, and relaxing music. Professional therapists use globally renowned product lines including Gerovital, Thalgo, Intraceuticals, Yon-Ka, Iyashi Dome, Sabio, and Charme d'Orient.
Recently, the spa expanded with the addition of a Turkish Hammam—a traditional therapy that combines warm steam with deep exfoliation, offering a truly authentic detox and revitalization experience in an oriental-inspired setting.
A Complete Destination for Every Season
IAKI Conference & Spa Hotel is one of those rare addresses that doesn’t try to impress—it simply is the perfect destination for those who know that true luxury doesn’t shout, but resonates. Here, history tastes like prosecco on the terrace or a perfectly balanced cocktail at dinner. Thoughtful design, impeccable service, and a natural air of sophistication make this a landmark for those seeking an authentic, discreet, and memorable experience.
The recent updates bring a contemporary aesthetic without erasing the building’s history, and the balance between business and leisure is managed with flawless sense of proportion. It’s a hotel where you feel like you’re on a well-chosen vacation—whether you're here for work, the beach, or simply to collect your thoughts in peace.
In a tourism landscape still seeking its stylistic compass, IAKI stands as the true north of relaxed refinement, intelligent comfort, and timeless elegance.
